Stamp Academy: Stamping Out Extinction
In our quest to make Snailbox a socially responsible business, our eyes are always peeled for ways to make meaningful contributions to our society.
Lucky for us, USPS makes it easy to make charitable donations to wonderful causes directly through the purchase of their semipostal stamps. We are proud to include one of these charitable stamps in our May 2020 Collection!
Since the release of the “Tiger Stamp” in 2011, Americans have raised nearly $6 million for conservation projects that have helped to protect some of the most iconic and charismatic animals on Earth.
More formally known as the “Save Vanishing Species Stamp”, a portion of every Tiger Stamp that is purchased helps to fund the conservation of vanishing species including sea turtles, great apes, elephants, tigers, and rhinos. To date, 99 conservation projects in 35 countries have been funded to help protect these beloved, yet highly threatened species.
The stamp features a beautiful illustration of an Amur tiger cub by artist Nancy Stahl. Derry Noyes served as the art director.
